Brain test!

Off late I've been drilled by Qeely with some brain test...helping her out with her Math homework! Mak datuk!!! the level of complexity has changed. I believe whatever she's learning right now, are the ones I learned later - in upper secondary school! But after a while, old memories came flooding back and it's simply awesome reminiscing school days at BBGS, where life was so much simpler and so much MORE fun!

In those days (okey...I'm old, if you haven't noticed) both Math subjects i.e. Modern Math and Add Math were taught in English and my teachers...ehem...were very patient and have no mercy when it comes to Math homework. Not a day goes by when we would go home without any. But I guess, it was the drilling and day-in-and-day-out; and you practically vomit Math...that made me remember most of the stuff and I continued taking Math during uni. Anyway, just a recap of key principles so far that I've captured...

  • the angles of a triangle equals to 180
  • the angles of opposites in a straight line equals to 180
  • the corresponding angles on a straight line is the same
  • the intersection where 2 straight lines meet - the vertical angles are equals
then you've got the negatives and positives, but worst would be on fractions!

and the never ending search for x and y!

Math is fun! #rolleyes

Creating that balance...

The first thing that struck my mind when it comes to BALANCE is this...

But what is on the left and right? Many things and categories, I guess. One category would be:

  • self-rules and regulations and principles vs team spirit

Urrrghhhh....why is it so difficult to strike balance between the two? My personal take, we don't live in a silo. Our lives are always dependent on other people and how we react to situations in our lives affect other people too in our ecosystem. Hence, please please pleaseeeeee...I cannot emphasise enough, BUT please be mindful of others... I just need to remind myself of these 2 cases in point:

  • one's beauty sleep vs team deadlines
  • one's functional mindedness vs group overarching framework

The TEAM/GROUP takes priorities kan? So please try to align yourself to that and fit in your schedules the big rocks (Group priorities) FIRST, and the smaller stones and sands (your self-proclaimed priorities), next. You will always have time for everything when you follow this.

It's the Climb...

Today, somebody asked me to write a blog...not knowing I do have one. Quietly, I realised that I've been in hiatus mode. I guess there are too many things in the head and some are P&C...I'm overwhelmed I guess. And another thing, the heart is numbed ... many things happened, to be exact, too many things happened at the emotional front!
Miley's It's the climb is the perfect tune for the moment...

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down,
But no, I'm not breaking
I may not know it,
But these are the moments
That I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep goin'

2016 was a challenging year both at home and on the professional arena. Home, because it was a year of hattrick for us - UPSR, PT3 and SPM. Work cum professional arena was mainly due to softer market sentiment and stretch targets nationwide. However, we kept our calm facade and soldier on.
A wise man taught me like a duck, calm and demure at the outside...beautifully cruising across the lake. BUT, underneath...beneath, in the water, both duck legs continue to paddle furiously!

And...the love affair with the DUCK bloomed with the pink roses series. And it grew to Songket Raya. And it went on to KL skyline. And it got bigger with the Ops! It's all about supporting the local brand (I convinced myself - belilah barangan buatan Malaysia!). But then I said, okey, enough is enough. No more DUCK. But then, there's this World Map...

Declutter my brain!

I haven't been writing, and it worries me. Am I keeping things to myself? Probably...but it's not a good sign. Simply because, when I write, things swarming in the head gets clearer. Several simple reminders to yours truly...

A road trip with the Toks!

Off we went. Balik kampung Beruas. A quaint town in Perak. Mommy, Daddy and Mak Teh, and me the chauffeur, dutiful daughter, errand girl, etc. Sometimes, you just have to make this sort of road trip with your parents, give them the walk-down-their-memory-lane thingy, and just watch how their eyes lit up and practically grinning from ear-to-ear! And YES, they did.
First, it was some family matters in Sitiawan. Then, we quickly drove off to Beruas, just a 45 minutes drive from Sitiawan. The road was quiet, lined up with homes, brick and mortar and most times 'rumah kayu'. Rumah lama penuh dengan kerawang. Ada yang ditinggalkan, dan tidak kurang juga yang masih berhuni. But what's new, are the many homestay along the road. We went to a few name it, Mak Kecik's, Pak Nor, Aunty and Pak Chop. And of, dinner, kueh, breakfast the next morning and lunch! But what I love most was the laid back, slow and steady life. A stark contrast from mine in KL. I seriously needed it. Come to think of it, I think I needed this trip most. wahahaha!

Serious lebat buah mangga kat Mak Kecik's!

I guess...never be afraid to go home..walk down that memory lane...and rediscover your roots!

Mesmerising Manukan!

I'm afraid of taking a boat ride. Takut tenggelam! Thinking of it made me stressful. But, there was no way out. Everyone had to go to Manukan...only for a few hours that day. But I'm glad I did. MashaAllah... the place is so so cantik...
The telematch was fun and funny! There were several games. Since everybody participated, hence no pictures. First, was the blindfold game with the rope, second, errr couldn't remember, third, we had to walk on planks and these planks were supported by your team members while they were half squatting, finally we were ankle deep in the water and trying to hold as much water as possible via a towel.
Grand finale, each team sang 'Aku orang kampung!' But obviously, one particular team rejig the song and had their own version regarding bonus and letting the boss win the telematch! But what was funnier, they started to perform like doing the hakka prior to singing 'Aku orang kampung - bonus version"!
Then...we were off for lunch and pool and lepak!

We should do a comeback...someday!
