Bapak den oghang nogori...

I was driving to work this morning, and as I listened to Suria FM (my favourite radio station at the moment!) I couldn't help smiling to this song...there were moments that I just had to laugh with the lyrics and the fantastic local slang the singers had. This song is AWESOME! It kinda reminded me of my childhood, growing up and being very close to about ten cousins from my dad's side..we spoke nogori, of course! hihihi...

Check out this song (from youtube) peeps and the lyrics...

Ko jolobak ko jolbu
Tuai padi tigo tangkai
Kalau kono komat jolobu
Tak mati badan menghasai
Gurindam dulu dulu jangan ponah dipotikai
Tak tahu tanyo dulu jangan goma memandai-mandai

Kisah eh bermulo mulut ughang kampong
Kisah ramai gadis cantik kek jolobu berkampung
Ughang luar datang luar nak cari'an joki
Lain pulak jadi eh terpikek nak buek bini
Tapi silap kono komat sampai tinggalkan keluargo
Kopit bawah kotiak bini tanggungjawab lupo
Omak ayah rindu tapi dio buek bodoh
Dah takdo monyosa monangih dopan kubur

Ughang luar salah tafsir koba gadih kito bahayo
Lopeh coghai semuo ghoto jadi milik dio
Jangan salah anggap napo lobihkan pompuan
Sobab laki boleh hidup kalau campak dalam hutan
Zaman dah boghubah adat di tolan zaman
Dah takdo mewaghisi coghito bertauladan
Apotah laie mengaku ughang nogori
Bilo tanyo suku mano nak jawab pun tak ghoti

Poie tanyo omak poie tanyo uwan
Kok takdo kosompatan buleh tanyo kawan-kawan
Aktiviti bergurindam tolah lonyap dilupokan
"sebagai suatu warisan"

Wak wak makan padi si lomang dalam buluh
Kok dah dapek yg dicari jgn terlansung semayang subuh
Ayam berkokok umah ponghulu itu tando haghi nak siang
Kok dah dapek oghang jolobu tak sabar nunggu malam ko siang

Serious best la lagu nih... It touches my heart and bring back fond memories. For us...my cousins and myself, growing up in KL or Melaka or Kuala Pilah, that didn't stop us to converse with others in bahasa melayu baku, but when we meet...it was hard core nogori! I missed those moments, good times and crazy... 'super crazy girls only time' with the cousins. Now we are all grown up, married, with our very own family, its quite challenging to meet up. We look forward to weddings, Raya and occasional trips to each others houses visiting our parents and uncles respectively.

May we support each other, love endlessly, saling ingat mengingati until Jannah...Aiyayaya...I miss my dad! and his nogori vocab...uumangaiihh...

cheers
azween

psst: the song is titled Gadis Jolobu, by the way.
